JJust thought I'd post a random topic here. Which of the 2 sites do people prefer and why? Anything you like or don't like about either of them? Just thought I'd randomly start a debate, seeing as I've got nothing else to do this time of night. Hahaha.

I update Twitter a lot more than I do Facebook, especially since I started using Qwitter. I like Facebook, because you have a longer profile with your interests, favorite things and all that and also for the apps. So yeah, I like both. LOL

facebook for me. i like the aps, the groups, ading of friends, fan pages... the list goes on.

twitter's great, though to be honest you can't do much with it. just really write 1 line statuses. broing really

Cool. I like both really because it's easy to update twitter statuses and will be even easier when I can use quitter better. I also like facebook because they've got the mobile site which works on computers, but I also like some of the applications, but not very good at using them. Hahahahahaha.

Twitter is like the Facebook Status feature so I don't consider them to be rival services.

Facebook Groups used to be good. I haven't seen a decent group on their for UK users in ages.

Facebook hasn't been as good since they got rid of the Networks feature. That was the best thing about Facebook.

As for the news feed it would be better if everything was displayed in the same way.

On Twitter I can't understand why visually impaired people need the assistance of other apps aimed at visually impaired people to use the Twitter website. It's the easiest interactive website I'm going to have to teach to my IT trainees.

I update twitter more often but also enjoy keeping in touch with friends through facebook. Facebook allows for more flexibility. As of now more of my blind friends use a combo of facebook and twitter.

Post 7 by Harmony (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 08-Oct-2009 6:14:25

I've been asking some of my blind friends and they all mostly seem to use facebook. Well a couple of them use twitter, but not many. I thought they still had the networks feature on Facebook. Does anyone know where to go to add the current town? I know people who have set their home town and current town, but I can only find the home one.

I like both, now that I can update my facebook status using twitter.

I like Twitter better. I've finally figured out Facebook and can use it with jaws ok, I just find it frustrating. Twitter is easy and I'm lazy so I just set up Twitter so that it updates my Facebook status as well. I don't care about the apps and other crap on Facebook. The only reason I even bother with Facebook at all is because I have friends who use it and not Twitter and I got tired of them whining at me to get on Facebook.

How can you update facebook status with twitter? This sounds very interesting.
But for now i like twitter more. Perhaps when the light version is ready without problems i might start using facebook as well because this interface looks very accessible.

Nikos, I don't remember exactly where the link is, but when you're logged into Twitter, go to settings or whatever it's called where you update your profile. If I remember right, somewhere on that page near where you can enter an address for a web page, there's a link that says "get Twitter for your website" or something similar. Click that link. When that page opens, there's a list of blog sites and such where you can incorporate Twitter into various other social media sites. Click on facebook and follow the instructions. When I did it, Jaws didn't recognize that the word Facebook was a link. It read it as though it were normal text. But it is a link so just click on it anyway and it should work. Sorry I can't remember exact details on where to set this up. I'd go look but I'm at work and Twitter is blocked so I can't get to it to confirm. Maybe someone else can give better details. Anyway, after you set it up, all your Tweets are automatically posted on Facebook as status updates. It's pretty sweet.

Or, go in to Facebook, locate and press Enter on the search box near the top of the page. Key in Twitter there, hit Enter again. This should bring up a list of apps with an application which was actually created by Twitter, being one of the first you come to if not the very first one you come to. Enter on this app and read all pages and follow all distructions carefully. It does work with protected tweets, despite what some forums I've read say about it not working with protected tweets, because I'm using the Twitter Facebook app myself and all my updates are showing on Facebook. If you reply to tweets though, neither the replies or DMs will show up on Facebook.

Jen.

I use both Twitter and Facebook, and like them both for their own reasons. I update my status on Twitter and Facebook simultaneously using a service called ping.fm. Twitter is great for quick updates, though sometimes, people get into conversations on there that would be more suited to an instant messaging program. LOL. Facebook has allowed me to reconnect with friends I'd lost touch with years ago, and that is my favorite thing about it. that, and the detailed profiles that you don't see on Twitter. I generally don't use the applications, I just use FB to find and stay in touch with friends that I rarely see these days, because we no longer live in the same geographical area.

is the pop out chat on fb accessible?

Post 15 by nikos (English words from a Greek thinking brain) on Thursday, 08-Oct-2009 16:56:59

Thanks for the information.
I actually saw somewhere the link saying twitter in your website but i thought that it was some code you could insert to your website so your twits appear there. I didn't know that you could incorborate facebook in there.
I might give it a go.

icequeen, I've successfully used the pop out chat feature on fb but find it easier to use a plug in for Miranda. I received it from a friend but will find out the url so you can download it.

U love both and use pingfm to update them. To get to the networks page 1 log in to your account, hit links list or however and click on settings, then when that page loads go to links list and hit enter on networks. Hope this helps.

I like both facebook and twitter, though I prefer facebook. I can stay in contact with my college friends, as well as older friends, use groups, and occasionally do fun quizzis. However, I like the layout of twitter better. It is easier to navigate than facebook, and I like how you can follow celebrities and other people on there without having to add them as their friend, unless their tweets are protected, of course. I do like the longer profile facebook has, though.

I've been a fb user for a long time now, but just joined Twitter. I like Twitter because that's primarily the only thing I use fb for these days, just to look at statuses. The you twitface joke has been around for a very very very long time!

I like both Facebook and Twitter.
